Health and Human ÍÑÒÂÖ±²¥ Secretary Gets First-Hand Look at Rush COVID-19 Response

Rush's response to COVID-19 earned the attention of the top public health advisor to the President of the United States, as Health and Human ÍÑÒÂÖ±²¥ Secretary Alex Azar visited the coronavirus frontlines at ÍÑÒÂÖ±²¥ on Tuesday, July 14.

The Rush University System for Health response to COVID-19 earned the attention of the top public health advisor to the President of the United States, as Health and Human ÍÑÒÂÖ±²¥ Secretary Alex Azar visited the coronavirus frontlines at ÍÑÒÂÖ±²¥ on Tuesday, July 14.

Dr. Omar Lateef, CEO of ÍÑÒÂÖ±²¥, and Dr. Dino Rumoro, professor and chairperson Department of Emergency Medicine, provided Azar with a tour of the Edward A. Brennan Entry Pavilion, the Emergency Department and the medical intensive care unit isolation rooms, all of which have earned national attention for design and flexibility amid the global pandemic.

The HHS secretary followed the tour with an in-depth conversation with several leaders of Rush’s COVID-19 response, discussing how Rush mobilized to treat a surge of patients and how Rush has resumed providing other types of care while ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
