Medical Staff Gala Raises Nearly $100,000 for Hospital Improvements

(April 10, 2018) - This year鈥檚 Rush Oak Park Hospital Medical Staff Gala, an annual fundraiser for the hospital that raises money for facility improvements as well as new medical equipment, was a big hit for donors and participants.

Held under the stars and surrounded by magnificent exhibits at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago in March, the Venetian masquerade themed gala, surpassed its average fundraising amount of $70,000 by bringing in $98,000 this year. Nearly 200 guests took part in this year鈥檚 event.

The money is earmarked for improvements to the hospital鈥檚 Skilled Care Unit, a unit that has been showered with accolades, including being recognized by U.S. News and World Report as among the best in Illinois and receiving a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.

鈥淭he Rush Oak Park Hospital Medical Staff Gala continues to be an important fundraising resource for improvements to the hospital and for the purchase of state-of-the-art medical technology,鈥 said Bruce Elegant, president and CEO of the hospital. 鈥淣ot only that, it鈥檚 a lot of fun. It鈥檚 an event that benefits the hospital as a whole and the medical staff who are committed to providing exceptional and compassionate health care for the community.鈥

This year鈥檚 donations will go toward enhancing the patient experience on the Skilled Care Unit. The improvements will include construction of a model kitchen where patients can practice the skills necessary to make a strong and safe transition back home.
